Warehouse Despatch Board

The Warehouse Despatch Board allows you to plan outbound shipments efficiently. The page provides a consolidated view of outbound sales and transfer orders where you can determine your transport requirements and optimize your warehouse operations. The board presents data in a tree structure with document headers and individual lines, allowing you to work at both summary and detail levels.

Key Features

The dashboard allows you to:

  • Plan shipments strategically - Select one or more orders and view the weight and volume totals to optimize transport utilization
  • Create warehouse shipments - Generate new warehouse shipments based on your selected orders
  • Update existing shipments - Add additional orders to existing warehouse shipments, useful when accepting rush orders that must ship the same day
  • Filter and sort intelligently - Use multiple filter criteria to find the right orders for your shipment planning
  • Save and reuse filters - Store frequently used filter combinations for quick access
  • Monitor ATP-calculated availability - View real-time inventory availability based on Available to Promise calculations to ensure accurate planning

The page only allows you to create warehouse shipments based on inventory in your warehouse that has not already been picked. This helps you track the status of picking against the warehouse shipments, as they would only contain lines that can be picked.

Creating Picks Automatically

The app can automatically create warehouse picks immediately after creating warehouse shipments from the Despatch Board. This streamlines the warehouse fulfillment process by eliminating the need for separate pick creation.

Setup

To configure automatic pick creation:

  1. Open Advanced Sales Setup
  2. Navigate to the Warehouse section
  3. Enable Create Picks on Warehouse Shipment Creation

This setting will be used as the default when creating warehouse shipments from the Despatch Board. It is possible to override this setting when creating the shipments.

Best Practices

Efficient Planning

  • Use the Location Filter as your starting point - it's required and drives all other data
  • Apply Shipment Date filters to focus on urgent orders first
  • Use the tree structure to select entire orders or individual lines as needed

Inventory Management

  • Regularly use "Get Available Inventory" to ensure accurate planning
  • Monitor the "Available Qty." columns to avoid over-committing inventory
  • Use "Include Only Lines with Qty. to Handle" to focus on actionable items

Filter Management

  • Save commonly used filter combinations to speed up daily operations
  • Use specific filters like Shipping Agent to group shipments by carrier pickup schedules
  • Combine multiple filters to create precise shipment batches

Warehouse Receipt Board

The Warehouse Receipt Board allows you to plan inbound Receipt. The page provides a consolidated view of inbound purchase, transfer and sales return orders where you can determine your transport requirements. The page lets you filter and group orders by various criteria, such as location and receipt date. The dashboard allows you to:

  • Select one or more orders and view the weight and volume totals.
  • Create one or more warehouse receipts based on your selected orders.
  • Update existing warehouse receipts to include additional orders. This is useful when you accept orders that must be received on the same day.

Transfer Back Order Management

It is possible to define back order rules that can be applied when shipping transfer orders.

Transfer Back Order Codes

On this page, you configure the different back order rules you wish to apply, and you can specify the default rule to use. These are the same rules that can be used for sales. You can read more about this here..

Transfer Back Order Types

TypeDescription
Short Delivery %Specifies outstanding quantity as a percentage of the original order. The line remains on back order if the percentage is greater than the tolerance specified.
Short Delivery QuantitySpecifies quantity shipped to determine if it is within tolerance. A common usage of this scenario is that you might ship partial quantities (e.g. 0.9 packs) and want to count this as shipping a full unit.

Location-Specific Rules

You can override the default for a location by selecting a different Back Order Code.
