Connect Dual Unit of Measure - Tasklet
Some industries require tracking inventory simultaneously in two units of measure — for example, kilograms and cartons, or litres and pallets. Depending on the type of inventory, the relationship between these units can be fixed or variable. In the food industry, this is often called catch weight or random weight.
The Dual Unit of Measure app addresses these requirements across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central — including purchasing, sales, warehouse operations, assembly, and production. It lets you configure items with either a fixed or variable relationship between weight/volume and units, and track inventory in both measures across every transaction.
Connect Dual Unit of Measure - Tasklet extends that capability to Tasklet Mobile WMS so that units information flows automatically through every warehouse transaction on the handheld device.
Do I need this app?
You need this app when you use the Dual Unit of Measure app in Business Central and your warehouse operates with Tasklet Mobile WMS. Without a connector, Tasklet has no awareness of dual unit of measure data — warehouse users cannot see, register, or validate units on the device. This connector bridges that gap so that units information flows between Dual Unit of Measure and Tasklet across every warehouse transaction.
For example:
- Receiving a delivery of cheese wheels where each wheel has a different weight — the device captures both the number of units and the actual weight per carton.
- Picking fish fillets by unit and recording the actual weight of each unit picked.
- Moving inventory between bins or license plates and carrying units through every scan, split, and posting step.
- Counting a bin of steel products and recording both the number of pieces and the total weight.
- Registering production output and tracking units alongside quantities for finished goods.
- Validating units-to-quantity relationships on the device before posting, so misalignment is caught before it reaches Business Central.

Supported Tasklet functions
This connector extends the following Tasklet Mobile WMS functions with dual unit of measure support:
- Receiving — Register units alongside quantities during warehouse receipt. For example, receive a purchase order for 10 cartons of lamb legs and record the actual weight of each carton as it is scanned. The app validates units against the expected conversion and warns on tolerance violations.
- Put-away — Units flow from receipts through to put-away activity lines, so warehouse users see and confirm units as they place goods into bins.
- Picking — Pick order lines display units information. For example, pick 5 units of fish fillets and record the actual weight of each unit picked. Full and partial license plate picks register units and maintain accurate unit tracking through to shipment.
- Inventory movements (planned) — Move Order Lines display total required units, registered units, and units of measure for every Dual UOM line. Full and partial license plate scans read units directly from License Plate Content.
- Unplanned movements — Ad-hoc moves between bins or license plates also capture and validate units, including advanced scenarios with tolerance checking before posting.
- Stock counting — Count operations support catch-weight units, so physical counts reflect both quantities and units accurately. For example, count a bin of steel products and record both the number of pieces and the total weight.
- Production output — Units are tracked when registering finished goods and work-in-progress output, including auto-consumption of components.
- Shipment — Units information is maintained through to warehouse shipment posting and reflected in the audit trail.
Built-in validation and correction
- Posting validation — Before any warehouse activity is posted, the app validates the units-to-quantity relationship for every Dual UOM line and blocks posting if any line is inconsistent.
- On-device correction — Warehouse users can adjust registered quantities or units directly on the device. For fixed-ratio items, changing units automatically recalculates quantity using the exact conversion factor. For variable-ratio items, the app validates against a configurable tolerance percentage.
- Line split support — When a partial scan registers less than the full movement line quantity, the app correctly splits the line and carries units through to both the posted and remaining portions.
Transparent for non-Dual UOM items
Items that do not use a dual unit of measure continue to work exactly as before — no additional fields, prompts, or behaviour changes. No limitations to standard Business Central or Tasklet features.
Includes Advanced License Plating for Tasklet
This app includes Advanced License Plating for Tasklet at no additional cost. Advanced License Plating extends the standard Tasklet Mobile WMS license plate functionality with capabilities that benefit all warehouse operations, not just dual unit of measure items:
- Full license plate traceability — Every license plate transaction creates an immutable License Plate Entry, giving you a complete audit trail of what was received, moved, picked, produced, and shipped.
- Parent-child license plate hierarchies — Support multi-level LP structures (e.g. cases on pallets) with automatic hierarchy management during movements, picks, and posting.
- License plate operations in Business Central — Manage license plates from both Tasklet devices and Business Central, including counting, adjustments, content merge, and cleanup.
- Receiving and put-away with license plates — Create license plates during warehouse receipt and carry LP assignments through to put-away activities.
- Picking with license plates — Full LP picks, partial LP picks, and LP merge operations, all with audit trail entries.
- Production with license plates — Register production output and WIP to license plates, with auto-consumption of components.
- Warehouse shipment integration — LP content is staged, shipped, and cleaned up automatically during shipment posting.
- Content management and cleanup — Automatic merge of duplicate LP content lines, cleanup of zero-quantity records, and deletion of empty license plates after posting.
