GS1 SSCC Compliance
GS1 SSCC standard
The GS1 General Specifications define the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) as an 18-digit number. The 18th digit is a check digit calculated from the preceding 17 digits using the GS1 standard algorithm. SSCC numbers are widely used on pallet and shipping labels to uniquely identify logistic units across the supply chain.
Standard Tasklet behaviour
Standard Tasklet Mobile WMS generates license plate numbers from a Business Central number series, predefined in "Mobile WMS Setup".
It does not:
- Verify that the generated license plate number is 18 characters long.
- Append a GS1 check digit to the generated number.
- Verify that a scanned license plate number has the correct check digit.
As a result, out of the box, Tasklet license plate numbers are not guaranteed to be SSCC-compliant.
What Advanced License Plating for Tasklet adds
Two setup toggles Enforce GS1 License Plate No. Length and Append Check Digit to License Plate No. are available in MOB Setup to improve license plate GS1 compliance.

When both toggles are enabled, Advanced License Plating for Tasklet enforces the following:
Number series validation
The license plate numbers series are verified to be exactly 17 numeric digits. This ensures that when a check digit is appended, the resulting license plate number is exactly 18 digits long. Business Central validates this when both toggles are turned on or when the License Plate Number Series is changed.
Check digit generation
When a license plate number is generated from either of the following systems, the app calculates a GS1 check digit and appends it to the number:
-
Tasklet scanner — using the Start New LP action on the Receive Order Lines screen.

-
Business Central — using the New License Plate action on the Assign License Plate page.

The resulting license plate number is 18 digits long (17 base digits + 1 check digit).
Length enforcement on scan
If a warehouse user scans a license plate label and the scanned number is not exactly 18 characters long, the system throws an error when the license plate is created in Business Central.
Current limitations
Although Advanced License Plating for Tasklet enforces the 18-character length, it does not currently:
- Verify that a scanned license plate number contains only digits.
- Verify that the last digit of a scanned license plate number is the correct GS1 check digit.
These validations may be added in a future release.
